I noted a while back a significant agreement reached between Russell Athletics and a coalition of NGOs and workers’ advocates involving the treatment of workers in Russell’s suppliers in Honduras. This is a great case study on the potential influence of non-state actors in influencing corporate practices.
This afternoon, Cornell is doing a webcast on the agreement with some of the main participants in the negotiations, including the company’s negotiators, and two of Cornell’s industrial relations professors, Lance Compa and Harry Katz. Here is information. If you can watch live, go to this link at 4:30 p.m. (eastern).I think Cornell posts the lectures afterwards, in case you miss it live.
