The Star is reporting that the employer-ordered ratification vote will be held by the Ontario Labour Relations Board on Monday or Tuesday of next week. If the striking employees vote to accept the employer’s offer, then classes will resume as soon thereafter as the University can organize an orderly back to work process. If the employees vote against the employer’s offer, then the strike continues until the parties bargain a deal or the government decides to step in an order the workers back to work with ad hoc legislation. I don’t think Ontario has ever ordered university employees back to work (does anyone know otherwise?), although it has ordered striking college instructors back.
York Vote to be held early next week
