My home unit at York, the School of Human Resource Management, is hiring a full-time tenure stream Assistant Professor to start next summer. The deadline is fast approaching: October 30th.
Here is the ad.
The ad refers to completion or near completion of a PhD in “human resource management’ and an active research agenda in HRM. In fact, though, the ideal candidate will be someone more like me, with a PhD in Law or Industrial Relations, since the new faculty member will probably be teaching IR and Employment Law, though there are other courses available in more traditional HRM areas, like compensation, recruitment, intro HRM, for someone interested in those courses. HRM is the name the university gave the school, but some of us, including me, don’t deal in HRM at all. So when the ad says HRM, it includes labour and employment law and industrial relations.
The School of HRM at York is the only a couple of years old, but is already the largest of its kind in Canada, offering Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees in subject matter relating to work. The faculty has one of the highest external funding success rates at York, and a prolific research and publication record. Check out the School website.
If you have any questions about the particular positions being posted, please feel free to contact me (ddoorey@yorku.ca) or our School Director, Dr. Parbudyal Singh, whose contact information is listed in the ad.
