After months of hype, the day has finally come.
The Ontario Liberals today introduced Bill 148, which in keeping with recent tradition, gave it a catchy proselytizing name “Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017′. Here is the Bill.
This law arises out out of the Changing Workplaces Review (CWR), which I discussed briefly last week in this post. I had intended to write a series of comments on the final report of the CWR but I have been tied up at conferences and interviews all week, so I didn’t get to it. But since the law is now out, probably a better use of my time to explore the law with reference to the CWR report.
Alas, that will have to wait until next week because I teach an all day executive master’s degree course tomorrow. Would love to hear your comments on the law.
Do you think the law will actually make much difference in the fight against precarious work, which was after all the whole point of the exercise, according to the Liberals?
I look forward to the debates!
