Another year done. With exams, marking, family, eating, and cottaging on the horizon, I’m signing off for a couple of weeks, but we’ll be back in January for a new term and new year. Should be an interesting time, 2011. We have the Fraser v. Ontario Supreme Court decision expected soon, which could reshape the meaning of “freedom of association” under the Charter. Here in Toronto, we expect a debate at Queens Park about whether to vastly expand the meaning of “essential” service from its traditional meaning of jobs that save lives to people who collect tickets in a booth or drive cho-cho trains. I can’t wait to see how the year unfolds.
So to my students and readers, have a nice break. If you celebrate a religious holiday, have a good one. See you in 2011.
And I leave you with a holiday tune from the Boy Least Likely To featuring a reunited WHAM! (or maybe not). People of my generation will get the joke…
Oh, and of course, the greatest holiday tune ever, again from my youth. Brilliant, pure brilliance…
Happy Holidays … See you in 2011!
