Anyone who works in the field of Canadian labour and employment law will know of Geoffrey England. For decades he has been at the forefront of Canadian employment law scholarship. His books Individual Employment Law (Irwin) and Employment Law in Canada (with Innis Christie, Peter Barnacle, and Roderick Wood) are leading texts in the field. Beyond his stellar accomplishments in our field, Geoffrey’s humour and wit have touched everyone who has met him.
Sadly, Geoffrey learned shortly after his recent retirement from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan that he is very sick. His plans for studying Latin in the B.C. wilderness have been interrupted by a cruel turn.
To pay tribute to Geoffrey, Dean Daphne Taras of the Edwards School of Business has established the Geoffrey England Scholarship in Employment Law at the U. of Saskatchewan. If you are able to make a contribution to this great cause, please send your contribution to the following address:
Dean Daphne Taras, Edwards School of Business, 25 Campus Drive, Saskatoon SK S7N 5A7. Tax receipts will be provided.
We know there are hundreds of Geoffrey’s former students out there, many of them practicing workplace law, industrial relations, and human resource management. Please consider giving back. And keep Geoffrey in your thoughts in the difficult days that lie ahead.
