ANOTHER REMINDER THAT THE FUNDRAISER FOR THE “160 GIRLS” CAMPAIGN IS HAPPENING TONIGHT AT THE EATON CENTRE MARRIOTT HOTEL at 525 BAY STREET, JUST SOUTH OF DUNDAS AT 5:50. ADMISSION IS FREE, AND THERE WILL BE A SILENT AUCTION OF COOL STUFF TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE PEOPLE FIGHTING TO PROTECT YOUNG GIRLS IN KENYA WHO ARE BEING SEXUALLY ABUSED. SEE YOU THERE.
This isn’t about employment law, but it is about human rights. There is a charity event next Wednesday evening at the Marriott Eaton Centre, from 5:30-7:30 in support of 160 Girls, aged 2-17, who were raped in Kenya and are fighting for justice. Some powerful people in Kenya don’t want this story out, so it’s been a struggle. Now some brave Canadian lawyers and human rights advocates, and friends of mine, are working to bring lawsuits against the perpetrators.
“I want people to share in the positive energy and intoxicating satisfaction of being part of a project that is literally making history and empowering and protecting girls who experience some of the most horrific abuse in the world today. I want people to appreciate the courage of these little girls and to ensure that we can give these girls a shot at justice.” Fiona Sampson, Ph.D
