I will be in beautiful Ithaca, New York on Monday September 23 presenting on a panel about collective bargaining in professional women’s hockey at Cornell University. Truth is, no one will be there to listen to me babble on about the legal challenges of transnational sports collective bargaining because my panel members are both hockey legends, including:
Brianne Jenner: Canadian Olympic gold medalist and captain of the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
Digit Murphy: Legendary NCAA and professional women’s hockey coach.
Professor Kelly Pike, Associate Professor of Industrial Relations at York University, Cornell ILR and Cornell women’s hockey alumni.
If we were playing “one of these doesn’t belong” the answer would be me! But I’m good at getting out of the way, and so this will be a very interesting and free-wheeling conversation about the rise of women’s professional hockey, the obstacles faced and challenges ahead.
Here is the flyer. The event will be live-streamed. You can find the Zoom link here.
