I Let My Employment Law Students Take a One Page Cheat Sheet into an Exam. Look What Happened

It’s a thing of beauty.

I let my employment law students bring a one page, one sided 8 x 11 cheat sheet into their exam.  This one is my favourite, though there were others that showed a similar amount of industriousness.

Since there is no name on the sheet, I can’t say how the student did on the exam.  But you have to admire the hard work.  And the ability (I assume) to read very, very, very small print.

Just as importantly the time and effort spent in having to review and determine what was important information, condense it and write it down would in most instances enhance the student’s ability to retain this knowledge.

What some might refer to as ‘cheat sheets’ can actually be a valuable learning device.
