Savage and Butovsky on Anti-Scab Laws

Larry Savage

In keeping with a theme of promoting recent Canadian labour law scholarship this week, here is a very nice piece by Brock University Professors Larry Savage (picture) and Jonah Butovsky in the newest edition of the on-line journal Just Labour exploring the issue of Federal ‘anti-scab’ legislation.

The authors take the opportunity to revisit the policy arguments for and against banning replacement workers during strikes and the literature linking replacement worker bans and strike duration.  The discussion takes place in the context of the recent failed Bill C-257, but its subject matter is applicable more broadly to the ongoing debate about replacement worker legislation.
